The Buckbee Center

The Buckbee Center was the Albert Wisner Public Library from 1927 to 2010. This beautiful Federal style building was commissioned by Mrs. Annie Wisner in honor and memory of her husband, Albert. The library was an association Library until the 1970’s when, by vote of the residents, it became a school district public library serving all residents who lived in the Warwick School District.

When a new library was built in 2010, the building was purchased by Albert and Judy Buckbee and family and given to the Historical Society and served as its headquarters. Mr Buckbee is a descendant of the original family that built the library. Today, the Buckbee Center is a hub of activity; it houses the vast Archives, Clothing and Textiles and Education departments.

The Great Room on the main floor is available to rent for meetings, social events, educational programs & lectures. WHS members get 10% off room rental fee.
